Can you help? Volunteers Needed

We are always looking for new volunteers to help Geelong Ostomy provide this essential service to our member. Volunteer workers have been the backbone of our work for over thirty years. GO members would not receive vital ostomy supplies each month without the amazing volunteering efforts of fellow ostomates.

The benefits of being a volunteer include:

  • The opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge,
  • Gaining a sense of achievement and fulfilment,
  • Personal development and enhancement of self-esteem,
  • Improved physical and mental health,
  • The opportunity to connect to and better understand our community, and
  • The opportunity to meet new like-minded people and to make new friends.

Our operating times are – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 9.30 am and 2.30 pm. We are flexible and will do our best to match volunteer interests and capabilities with the various needs of the business. We provide training to enable team members to contribute in a meaningful and satisfying way. It is a great team environment.

At certain times we have special projects, such as stocktake and membership renewal, where we are looking for volunteers to help for a short period only.

Main Tasks include:

  • Customer Service including some cash/credit sales (front counter/ telephone and email)
  • Picking and Packing of collect and postal orders
  • Computer Tasks- basic database entry
  • General Office Tasks- filing, photocopying, mail

While some members may have difficulty contributing as a volunteer, your support via a donation would be most appreciated.

If you, a family member, or friend, is interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the Administrator of GO and discuss how this might take place. We would love to hear from you, no matter how big or small a commitment you are willing to make.

We ask you to consider donating to the Association.
